How long have you been a Wavie for? 1.5 years

Who inspired you to start waving? There wasn’t anyone in particular who inspired me. I just thought it was a super dope look.

What made you decide to Start your wave journey? I love trying new things with my hair. I thought this would be a way to express my individuality, switch up the colors, and add some really dope designs.

Did you have any fears or doubts about waving? If so, what were they? Honestly no fears or doubts. I used to feel like some of the wave community is apprehensive to color and designs, but honestly they’re a part of me.

How did you prepare for this new hair journey? I looked for YouTube videos on how to get waves about a week or two after cutting it. I knew you had to brush, but I wasn’t familiar with the intricacies regarding angles, forks, etc.

How did you feel when you started seeing progress? Excited! I saw progress within a week! The more brush work I put in, the better the results. One thing about this hairstyle is that it forces you to listen to your hair.

Has waving helped your self-confidence in any way? I think it made me more of a “people-person”. I’m naturally more of a recluse. But when you’re a woman with colored waves and designs, there’s NO way to stay that way. People usually have lots of questions so it pushes you to be more personable.

Was/is there anything significant about starting your wave journey? Did it symbolize anything to you? A new beginning.

What is one thing you would tell a WavyWMN who is just starting out on their wave journey? Welcome to the community Sis! Make sure you rock this style with your head held high and your confidence on TEN. Keep that brush MOVING! Consistency will keep you in the game.
