How long have you been a Wavie for? Since 2012, so 9 years

What do you like to do in your spare time? Watching the waves ripple at the lake, mini road trips down back/country roads vibin’ to music, watching YouTube tutorials

Who or what inspired you to start Waving? Just got tired of having an all over, “plain” fade, I wanted to spin like the men [laughs]

What are some hair products you use to get those waves right? Aunt Jackie’s Shampoo, Co-Wash & Leave-in Conditioner, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, ORS – Hair Fertilizer, Aunt Jackie’s & Nairobi Setting Mousse/Foam Wrap, Torino Pro Curved Med/Hard Brush, Red by KISS for MEN Bow Wow Velvet Durag

Did you prepare yourself for this new hair journey? Yes, I knew consistency and good products would be key to achieving my desired look.

What made you decide to pick up the brush? I love the look and feel of freshly moisturized and brushed waves and I wanted to feel it on myself. I’ve been in love with my waves since I started.

How did it feel when you first started seeing progress? I felt UNSTOPPABLE, and I honestly felt like a Baddie [smiles & laughs]

Did you have any fears or doubts about Waving? YES! [laughs] That they’d be dry and crunchy, wouldn’t connect or lay down. Or that I would lose faith in making them just look good.

Has Waving helped your self-confidence? YESSSSS! I love the literal daily compliments I receive on them, and I love that people actually see ME, every inch and flaw of my face/head. I’ve been told my waves literally fit my personality and I 100% agree.

Was/Is there anything significant about starting your Wave journey? Did it symbolize anything to you? Yes, it symbolized me choosing to do something most are afraid to try for numerous reasons. I love the decision I made and all of the *minor* negative outlooks that I receive from it sometimes.

Speak to the Wavie starting out on their journey. What advice do you have for them? Please, just do it. Out of all of the many different things you’ll try/have tried in life, why not this one? I swear hair grows back so fast. but if it’s not your cup of tea, we can always count on a fye lace front [laughs]. Just remember, you’re BEAUTIFUL regardless of how you choose to rock your crown!
