How long have you been a Wavie for? 2 years

Who or what inspired you to start waving? Please include their @ name if possible! My big sister begged me for years to cut my hair off because she thought I had the perfect face for it. I finally decided to go for it since I was over my pixie cut. Once I cut it, she said, “Go buy some brushes and get some waves.” So I just shut up and listened… I LOVE IT HERE!

What made you decide to start your wave journey? Once I cut my hair, I wanted to add some personality to it.

Did you prepare yourself for this new journey? Not necessarily. one day I was just over having hair on my head. so I scheduled an appointment with my mom (she’s a hairstylist) to cut it all off!

Did you have any fears or doubts about waving? If so, what were they? I had fears that it would look too masculine.

How did it feel when you first started seeing progress? I was so excited! I remember making progress videos of my shadow waves.

It’s Wash day! What’s on your playlist? The whole A Boogie “B4 AVA” ep!

What are some hair products you use to keep those waves right? (Get as specific as you can!) My holy grail products are: Shea Moisture Restorative Leave-in Conditioner, Ion Protein Leave in-Conditioner, Wave Builders natural Pomade, Raw Cold Pressed Castor Oil, and Kera Care sulfate free shampoo along with the conditioner. Also, Silk Durags & Crown Patches only!

Where are you from? California

What do you like to do in your spare time? No hobby is too big or small! I’m an artist, I love to paint, sketch, & work on custom shoes.

Has waving helped your self-confidence in any way? I feel the most sexy and confident I have ever felt in my life with my waves!

Was/Is there anything significant about starting your wave journey? Did it symbolize anything to you? For me it symbolized letting go of what others thought of me and embracing myself in every stage of my life.

Speak to the Wavie who’s itching to start their journey, but isn’t quite ready yet: My advice to any new wavers would be to start with at least a #1 haircut so you can FIND YOUR CROWN first! Start brushing your pattern from your crown, and then start getting #2 haircuts. Also sulfate free hair products because they don’t dry your hair out.
